"Lotus" by Tom Lightfoot 1982

I am very interested in the emotional power of religious spaces. Lotus was the second of two installation pieces that explored this idea. The first specifically alluded to christian churches while "Lotus", with a detail pictured here, had a more eastern feel to it. While there were no instructions or written statements accompanying the pieces, visitors would sit quietly on the floor in the room. In a few cases people stayed for an hour or more.
